Dear me from the past,

I’m writing to you from the future. You may not be fully aware of your surroundings just yet. But I simply wanted to tell you that you’re doing fantastic! Life will be quite complicated in the coming years, but remember that you are not to blame, and you are not accountable for the strange and puzzling things that the adults in your life do.

You already have a strong sense of right and wrong, and it will only get stronger as you grow older. Stick to your gut instinct; do what you know is the proper thing. Secondary school will begin smoothly but become more difficult due to some life events. Worry not, everything will turn out to be good in the end. Don’t give up, even if you want to. Even when things aren’t going perfectly, you’re already doing your finest in such situations. You are far more capable and intelligent than you realize; remember that.

You will have to lose a number of friends, even your closest associates. Worry not, you will be okay soon. It will take some time, but you will eventually stop attempting to fix everybody else and begin being friendlier to yourself. My recommendation to you is to get started as immediately as possible.

Life will put you through many saddening moments. But looking back at our life, I can surely tell that you are strong. You will feel low at times. Sometimes, you will hate everything in your life. But remember, in the end, such pitfalls don’t matter. What matters is your perseverance.

I want you to understand how unique you are. However, the calm sea of life that you are sailing in will become stormy. Storms and typhoons are on the way. You will feel as if you cannot get through it. You will not be alone; there will be people in your life, even those you did not expect, who will reach out and be there for you. Keep in mind that there will be people attempting to reach out to you to assure you that everything will be fine and that they are there for you.

Never ever be deterred by such lows of reality. The declines are what define you; the fight is a necessary part of the story. They show you things about yourself you didn’t actually know before because that’s the only path you’ll ever improve.

You will have many many happy moments in your life. The moments you’ll remember lifelong are yet to come. You will have lots of fun, and you’ll feel like flying at times. Enjoy the moments, for you will cherish them lifelong.

You are beautiful, you are strong, and you ever will be so. I adore you and am so proud of you. Take good care of yourself. Take good care of us.

Love,
You, from the future.
